CityShaping – Celebrating Opportunities for Input in the Official Process

While our focus was the Lower Lonsdale waterfront development and the construction of Lot 5, at its most fundamental The North Van Urban Forum was born seeking a dialogue on issues of urban design.  We wanted a conversation between those who planned, and those without a formal voice in the process of planning.  We wanted the community to become engaged and inspired at the thought of shaping its neighbourhood.  We wanted to see our community fulfill its potential by becoming an inclusive place, that drank deeply at the well of ideas generated by all its users and inhabitants.

In the interests of celebrating every attempt to make this dream a reality, we would like to highlight the City of North Vancouver’s own CityShaping process.  See below, and follow the links for information.  The Stage 2 kick-off event is on this Thursday evening from 7-9pm. We urge all residents and interested visitors to come and lend their support to the process.

If we all participate, if we all raise our voice and demand to be heard when our cities ask us for our input, then we cannot be ignored.  Future developments hinge on an awareness that people are watching, and that they care about the outcome.
